Google Is Under Fire, Again

Everyone knows that Google is the name in tech. From Chromebooks and search engines to cellphones and wearable accessories, Google has you covered. I myself have had the pleasure of testing a Google Home device.
“Hey, Google!”
The possibilities are endless with this device! Are you stuck on a homework question? Ask away. You can get answers to math problems, history studies, and just about anything else that you can think of all without lifting a finger. Perhaps you are just looking for a better way to pass the time. You can ask for ideas and suggestions, you can set timers for errands and events, and you can even play music from your favorite streaming services!
It is like having your own personal concierge through the world wide web. No more clickbait thumbnails or annoying 404 errors. If Google cannot find it for you, an alternative will be suggested. I would say that almost all of the suggestions received will be suitable for the users needs. If you cannot find the exact song that you are looking for a cover song might be offered, or a replacement item may be suggested if you are looking for something on your shopping list. My personal favorite is the jokes assistant. You can ask Google to tell you a joke. It is sure to give everyone in the family a good laugh!
What does all of this matter? Well, Google has been a part of my life in ways that can only be described as delicate. Even before artificial intelligence ruined lives, leaving us like bananas that are too ripe on the store shelves, I learned just about everything I know from a Google search or a Classroom lesson. Google cannot be defined by their merciless efforts to keep up with the reckless nature of their competitors. Google is known for their old slogan “no evil.” This should be more than enough to reassure the public and explain the structure of the corporations search engine and educational learning softwares.
The F.T.C. (Federal Trade Commission) and the D.O.J. (Department of Justice) are going after Google Corp in the Federal Circuit, right now. There are a number of reasons that this can happen. More often than not it is actually a good thing. It keeps large companies responsible for the prevention of catastrophe and critical failures. It establishes a bond between large companies and their competitors, as well as the public. Without these checks and balances, corruption and error run rife.
It is important to keep big business in check, but it is also important to understand the consumers’ needs. As a lifelong beta-tester, I can assure that most people do not need all of the features that Google offers. I can also assure you that the people who do need them do not need them for free. That is the real question here. Who is afraid of who? It is not about how big the big guys really are. It is about who the big guys are afraid of. Why would the most valuable commodities be so cheaply available to people who should be so well off?
My suggestion? Stop using ad-blocker when you don’t need it. Stop telling people made up stories and gossip. Stop circumventing tracking and other international restrictions with V.P.N. (virtual private network) tools. Most importantly, stand for something you believe in. Having a cause is what separates you from the rest. If you believe in Google and their message of free education, you can sign my petition here. If not, be sure to let me know why on social! I would love to receive your feedback, either way. What kind of beta-tester would I be if I did not do it for the opinion? If you enjoyed this story, be sure to check out some of my other articles. Thank you for reading!
