It is not about taking turns. It is not about anything really. The only thing that it is not about, though, is you. You and your thoughts and feelings and emotions and memories are worthless here. This place is loaded. Take your pick, and hope you do not land on the trap. The whole thing is ready to go!

Between the rancid odors of dumpster fires and burning pipes comes the cat calling and gang signs. You had best hope that it is not a busy time to be alive, because someone can fix that. The gunshots and car alarms are even more typical than you. You cannot expect anything other than a video camera to save your life at this point. The working girls have their eyes on you. They do not care if you are married or not. As a matter of fact, they do not even care if you are into women.

As you get into the vicarious parts of the city, you notice that there is something going down. The show has stopped. No one is looking for anything other than a way out. No longer will you be afraid of the strangers. You are afraid of that extremely recognizable outfit. It is them! The superstar. They do not look like they are shining, though…

Them and their gang of thugs are done impressing teenagers and drunk people. They are out for blood. One of their own has been in trouble, and they do not like that. Someone has to pay, even if it just to get the message across. Sometimes an innocent gets caught in the middle of it just so that people remember that they are supposed to be afraid. Maybe you will do whatever it takes so that it is not someone that you care about.

You heard about what happened to those college co-eds last weekend. All of those celebrities were in town with their camera crews and those creepy film executives. Your best-friend has been missing ever since. You know that your cousin got kicked out of the house for being seen with the bouncer that works at the club they like to visit. It is a bad place. There is rumor going around that somebody died in there. That is not even the scary part! They say the body was not found until the party stopped, three days later. The after-party was not cancelled, either.

This story is meant to tear at the heart strings of everyone who reads it, but I know that you did not end up here by accident. You were looking for something in the V.I.P. (very important person) section. You did not know that I knew. I know. The V.I.P. section is home to all of my worst nightmares. I used see it every night when would I go to sleep. I know that half of the people I have worked with in public have felt the same effect. It is like a radioactive poison. You cannot get rid of it. It either consumes you or it haunts you. There is no in between. It was built by “the devil in Hollywood” to turn us all into demons.

That is not the end of our story. It does not matter if V.I.P.s took your love and life away. It does not matter if you were a V.I.P. at some point, either. If you know that all of the suffering on the streets is growing without it, then you should also know that it is going to be okay no matter what. Homelessness, addiction, alcoholism, sexual assault, human trafficking, and espionage plague the hearts of many. Do not let it take what is yours. Do not let it find its way into your community. It will take a lifetime to make it right. No one will ever want to listen to reason when they can see right through you. You would do well to leave it behind you. If you or someone you know is struggling with this, help is available. In the case of a life-threatening emergency, always call 911 or other available emergency services in your area. If you are in a dangerous situation, and you do not know what to do or you feel like you are going to hurt yourself or someone else, you can call the sexual assault crisis hotline at +1 (800) 656-HOPE (4673). Thank you for reading!
