Who Is Elon Musk?
March 29, 2025 | By: Zayne Harbison
This question started itching the back of my mind around 2018. I had no idea who the man was at that point in time. All I knew was that he was on the Joe Rogan podcast and all of a sudden everybody could not stop talking about him. I was not quite jealous, yet. I did envy the fact that he got to smoke weed with Joe Rogan on a public broadcast. I quickly figured out that he was the founder and CEO of Tesla, the boring company, and the soon-to-be Neuralink. I will reference these companies at another time, but I will say that I genuinely thought Neuralink was just a joke or a meme at first.
What was even more of a surprise was the fact that Elon Musk started his enterprise by founding x.com, soon to be PayPal. This is where it all started! He sold it for a measly one million dollars. In comparison to his worth today, that is really no different than the “small loan” that President Donald Trump received from his father so many years ago. You know what they say. If you love something let it go! That is exactly what he did. He built an amazing machine that served as a tool for millions of Americans and many others around the world to be able to secure their finances digitally through an online portal. The actual banking came later.
Enough business. (Did I mention the part where he helped as an original founder in the creation of OpenAI? What about SpaceX and their new intergalactic computer networking system known as Starlink?) I asked you a serious question. Who is this guy? What makes him tick? Is it million-dollar websites, or is it something else? There are rumors that he is on the spectrum. There are rumors that he is an alien from another planet in another galaxy. This is almost parallel to the Mark Zuckerberg lizard-man theory. I would say that these silly remarks propel him much further than any dollar amount ever could. He seems like someone who lives above the clouds most of the time. This is not true. He often remarks that he would like to be viewed as any other. An everyman. I would think that would be rather difficult to accomplish being the second most successful person on the planet. The only thing missing from the technological ventures is a tremendous volume of logistics. While shipping Cybertrucks and Optimus robots for Tesla is going to take up a lot of space on the highway, it is nothing compared to the madness that is amazon.com. What started as an online resale bookstore has become a truly fearsome competitor in the shipping industry. I will save that for another time. For now, you can read about my experience working for Amazon as a contractor here.
I actually started to apply to work for xAI when the opening announcement was made on Twitter. I decided against it when I realized that most of my experience was gained in a project that quickly became a highly obscene adult entertainment platform. You can read more about that here. To say the least, I was heartbroken. The opportunity arose, and I was not ready. This does not mean that I will not have a future in tech, but it does mean that I will struggle with that nightmare replaying in my head every night until the day that I die.
“Just press the button.”
“Just press… the button.”
“Just… press… the button.”
I never did it. I wish I could say that I never will. That is just not how life works. We all have obligations and some might even say a destiny. For a man like Elon Musk? It is obvious! He is a giant in the tech industry. He is very wise. He is very dedicated. He has a lot of respect for his people. One of the greatest videos I have ever seen was his announcement for the Boring company tunnels. I think it was set to be finished around 2030. That is a long way away! It is exciting, nonetheless.
His family immigrated from South Africa some years ago. I find this fascinating! While many make jokes about Elon being a White African-American, I find no humor in this statement. Where I am from, racism was everything. There was no escaping it. There was no being the bigger man. Worst of all, there was no end in sight.
I, too, moved away from home to escape the harsh realities. I may not have had emerald money, but I had heart. That’s what matters! That is what Mr. Musk has to keep him going. If there is any doubt about the reasons behind his ventures, take a look at the other venture capital foundries which are actively ruining this country. Big Tech is not destroying America. If anything, they are taking countermeasures that should have never been necessary in the first place. Sure, there are many people who are suffering at the hands of technology. I, for one, do not even want to imagine how much more those people would be suffering without technology. I have seen some seriously brutal things happening on a regular basis when the cameras were not rolling. If you have as well, then you know exactly what I am talking about. While America is torn apart by petty gang wars and substance abuse, the rest of the world is torn apart by real wars. In Africa, children are torn away from their homes and forced to enlist in militias that have no government authority. They are simply told that they are fighting against people like Elon Musk when, in all actuality, that is nowhere near the real truth. Blood diamonds have been around for as long as I can remember. I have never once heard of a blood emerald or a silicon chip that destroyed a village and kidnapped its children. Just some food for thought!
So, who is he?
Elon Musk is an American hero. he has set out to represent himself as an immigrant and as a natural-born leader. In the process, he has changed the world. One of his companies has given a paralyzed man the ability to use social media again. Building tunnels underneath major cities is actually going to reduce carbon emissions enough to slow global warming substantially. Building robots that are fully autonomous and have a functioning artificial intelligence system is going to boost education and morality globally. Self-driving cars have already proven their worth! The new x.com? Don’t even bother. Compared to the old Twitter, it is an upgrade. It may be coming too fast, but that is just how the tech industry works thanks to venture capital fraud. I am glad to see projects such as Grok and OpenAI changing the way that people engage with each other online and in the real world. I am glad to see a real man with a real heart made of gold taking charge over all of this. The new Department of Government Efficiency is superb and magnificent. I have already seen more people smiling during the day in the last 3 months than I have in the last 10 years. If that doesn’t tell you everything that you need to know, maybe we are asking the wrong question here. I hope that what you have learned here today will stick with you and that it may help you to see more of what the future holds for us. Thank you for reading!
